One day winter crept
with bitter malevolence
but failed to keep hold
One day winter crept
with bitter malevolence
but failed to keep hold
an icy curtain
drapes the alter as river
trails her bridal veil
A winter runner
ice cleats gripping, heart pumping
clouds of steamy breath
A man gathers sticks
bundles them with twine to build
his house in the woods
A winter landscape
white snow and trees starkly black
two little boys play
On this day of love
you are asleep beside me
your warm heart beating
Wandering between
dark rooms I have lost my way
following a voice
Against a grey sky
doves flying on creaking wings
are on a mission
Twigs, ice-clad stretch up
frozen hands cradling the last
red winter berries
a beautiful day
welcomes a brave new year
joyful Chinese friends
I dream so I write ..
